San Diego Botanic Gardens

A hidden gem in Encinitas, CA

I always heard about the beautiful plants and flowers here but lately, this has been on my list to take the kids. We were being hosted on Sunday so we packed a few sandwiches for lunch and headed up to Encinitas.

*Mom tip: this is also a GREAT way to tire the kids out before an early night before the Monday school grind 😉

The Hamilton Children’s Garden has so many things for the kids not only to see but play with. We were lucky to catch Toni’s Tree House before it was closed for maintenance (It will be closed through February and maybe March too) Make sure you call if this is something you REALLY want to have the kids enjoy. However, there are still so many great things in this garden for the kids.

During Christmas and into January, they host the Botanic wonderland with outdoor lights, food and holiday treats. An annual family membership is $85 (comes with free parking and two free guest day admission passes. You also get a discount on the Botanic Wonderland tickets). Visit their website for more info!

It was a well spent, active Sunday and the kids went to sleep real quick that night.
